Bangkok to Chiang Mai - Lopburi or Phitsanulok?Hi, we're going to Thailand for the first time and are planning on traveling from Bangkok via train to Phitsanulok and then by bus to Sukhothai and Chiang Mai. We are planning two nights in Ayutthaya, three nights in Sukhothai and four nights in Chiang Mai. Right now we have a spare day between Ayutthaya and Sukhothai.
My question is, is it worthwhile to jump off the train at Lopburi and spend a portion of the day there and then jump back on the train to overnight in Phitsanulok?

What would you like to see ? Natural or Historical Sites?
If you like Ayutthaya and Sukhothai , Lopburi is nice province about History Culture aswell such as Prang Sam Yot , Prana Rai Rajni Viat etc, but remember Lopburi is know as monkey temple , they not afraid tourists so you probably be careful just don't take and stuffs with you ,that's ok. (but a little monkey look really cute :p).

2I really like Lop Buri, the old town is very small so can easilly be walked around and you can leave your luggage at the station. In the evening there is a nice little food market alongside the railway tracks.

3Lop Buri is pleasant enough but there isn't much to do once you have seen the hordes of monkey's at the small temple. Phitsanulok has more going on at night and lot's of markets during the day. The people are also really friendly there, not many tourists.
