2Farmers Market on Saturday Morning. http://www.capitalregionfarmersmarket.com.au/
Kingston Bus Depot Markets Sunday. http://www.obdm.com.au/
Wineries every day, especially good on weekends. (40 minutes drive out of town). http://www.canberrawines.com.au/
The places to meet people, eat, drink etc are Kingston, Manuka and West Row in Civic.
If you have transport, Tidbinbilla nature reserve has great walks, roos, emus etc. Nearby is the Deep Space Station.
Botanic Gardens have a decent cafe and great rainforest walk.
Hire a bike and ride around the lake. http://www.mrspokes.com.au/
central part of the lake has heaps of places to visit, eat, drink. Favourites are the Portrait Gallery and National Gallery, but the Library has the best cafe. You can get coffee and gelato on the water's edge at the kiosk.

4Harry has made good suggestions. If you want night life the city/civic and the Manuka areas are the places to go for restaurants and clubs.
if you like markest the old bus depot markets are good on sundays.
I think the Canberra International film festival has just finished.
War memorial is generally loved by people of all ages as well.
Segway around the lake might be something different.... After all they changed the laws just to let them operate!

5Funnily enough, in 26 years here I've never once "hung out at the mall", nor ever seen anyone doing this. In Canberra, people go to malls to shop. Weird, I know.
The Segways are rented from a kiosk near the National Library, right on the waterfront.
