1 week in Indonesia, Arriving from Georgetown, Penang
Hi all, looking for advice/criticisms from travelers who are familiar with the trail. My friend and I are first time travelers to Indonesia and are hoping to fit in two areas while we're there. We will be arriving from Georgetown, previously making stops in Koh Tao and Koh Phaghnan. In indonesia we were hoping to cross into Medan and visit Bukit Lawang...estimating 3 days here. From there the plan was to head to Bali, spending the bulk of our time set up in Ubud, thinking 4 days. What is the best way to get between the two places? and does this seem too rushed? After Bali we are heading to The Phillipines for another week, most likely set up on Cebu with days visits to Dumaguete and Apo island. Any suggestions welcome, thanks for reading!2
Bali is definitely going to be the easiest area to get around and you can fill a week up there no problem - between Ubud, Legian and a couple of places on the island, it might still feel a bit rushed. If you're looking for something a bit 'off-track' there are lots of other options in Indonesia you might consider: Kalimantan, Komodo, Yogyakarta, Bromo.
I was just there and have got some stories up on my blog if you wanted to get some inspiration: Indonesia posts

Least hassle is to see more of North Sumatra - save Bali for next time.Besides Bulit Lawang see Danau Toba and perhaps Brestagi in between.
There are many flights per day between Penang and Medan.
