In Olinda, want Amazonas and north south america
Hi all, right now Im in Olinda and I want to travel from here on wednesday. I want to see some jungle and take a trip for a few days in the Amazonas. After that I plan to see some other countries than Brazil (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador etc).
Do you have any ideas what would be a not to expensive and nice trip? Im having a hard time figuring out what I want to do and how I would do it.
I have about 5 weeks left to travel and dont mind bus or boat. Though, I suppose I need start by flying from Recife to some place. Colombia (and go to Leticia), or Peru and see the jungle from there, perhaps?
How is Leticia compared to Manaus?
Any ideas and thoughts are welcome :)

There are many more tour options in Manaus than in Leticia. As you have found, it's quite expensive to fly to Colombia from Brazil. I've heard that tours of the Amazon in Peru are cheaper than those in Brazil, though. For an average jungle tour in Manaus, you would pay about $170 reais per day (all included--meals, guide, and room--though keep in mind that this is per DAY, not per night). If you mean that you aren't coming back to Brazil after leaving Olinda, one option would be to fly to Manaus, take a jungle tour or not, take a boat up to Leticia, and go on from there... fly to Bogota, or take another boat into Peru. The boat from Manaus to Leticia takes a week.
I also have a friend who took a boat from Manaus into Bolivia.
I'm happy to answer more questions about Manaus and the Amazon if you have any.

I'm from Manaus and there is a huge difference between the both, Manaus is the largest city of brazilian amazon states about 1,9 million inhabitants, if you desire to have a jungle exp with beaches in the river I suggest you go by boat Belem-Santarem (algodoal e alter do chão)- ManausI think you can go to Belem by Bus at least from fortaleza it's possible I've heard

Dont know if you did, but if dont, you should try going down the coast of Brazil instead. There are the most amazing landspaces and culture, and if you're in Recife it would be no problem doing that trip and not expansive as a flying ticket to any of those sights. If you have 5 weeks you can get all the way to Salvador maybe further, not rushing and making the most out of it, and will definitely dig it. I`ve already done a trip down the entire brazillian coast and I can promisse you that. Also you can go up north coast all the way to Sao Luis in Maranhao and be at some equally amazing places. Another great option that you have brought is to take a flyght or maybe by-land-or-water-transpostation (if you're ok with the time consuming) and tour in Manaus or Santarém which I believe must be also lots of freakin fun.
If you want I could suggest some places to check on the coast.
