Seriously, no bus plying that route has anything near resembling suspension, the only suspension you're likely to experience is the traction you'll be in at Siem Riep hospital while your bones knit.
Apply for a 'visa on line' using the attached link, and fly to SR or PP from Bangkok. I did this last year and it couldn't have been easier.

See the million other answers to getting a visa at the border its simple.
BP007 is dated with that answer, it used to take 8 hours in a dirt road from the border to Siem Reap, however the road is now fully paved and is really quite good. it takes about 3 hours by bus now and just over 2 in a Taxi to SR.
if you are going to Southern cambodia then get bus to Trat and minivan to Koh Kong and bus onwards to Phnom Phen or Sianoukville
But here is link that will help you ...

Hi everyone
I've searched for info on the site and have still got questions.
We're goingto be in South East Thailand and then on to Cambodia. I thnk we have to go via Bangkok. I've read loads of postings on here saying Do Not go to Cambodia using tourist busses from KSR as you will be ripped off on ticket price and cost of Visa at Cambodian border.
Ok, fine, what is the best alternative for travel into Cambodia and getting a visa at their border?
Many thanks in advance

I don't doubt anything purchased in KSR is a rip-off (has been since the 70's), what I can confirm is that the bus ride from the border to Siem Riep is an 8 hour nightmare. ie: pack a spare spine.Seriously, no bus plying that route has anything near resembling suspension, the only suspension you're likely to experience is the traction you'll be in at Siem Riep hospital while your bones knit.

Get on a government bus from Mo Chit bus station in Bangkok, they go regularly (or Ekamai station) its about 215bt to Rong Kluea market right at the border at Aranyprathet. You don't even have to go to KSR and there'll even be locals on the bus!See the million other answers to getting a visa at the border its simple.

can also get train to Aranyapathet if you prefer and onwards as above.if you are going to Southern cambodia then get bus to Trat and minivan to Koh Kong and bus onwards to Phnom Phen or Sianoukville

Train from Bangkok to Aranyapathet costs a whopping 48 bht one way , Once you arrive in Aranyapathet you can catch a Tuc Tuc to the border for about 50 - 60 Bht , yes the Tuc tuc from the Train Station to the border costs more than the Train journey it's self ..But here is link that will help you ...
