Johannesburg to Lesotho

We will set out from Jo'burg Monday at around 4 PM in direction of Lesotho. We want to enter in the south western boarder (near Quthing on the Lesotho side). We probably wont be able to do the trip that day so we are looking for someplace nice to spend the night on the way - is there an other option than Bloemfontein? Any recommondation for a nice place/guesthouse/hotel on the way (should be 2-3-4 hours drive from Jo'burg) would be much appreciated!

Thanks!
Tom

Why waste so much time driving all the way around on boring highways (and to the west of Lesotho even more boring rural roads)? Drive south to Clarens (3 hours; do a slight detour via Warden and through the beautiful Golden Gate park on the N5 if you think you'll make it before dark) for your first night, enter Lesotho nearby at Caledonspoort or further west at Maseru or even the next crossing and you'll experience the beautiful Maloti route too. Otheriwse I'd suggest a stopover at Royal Natal park on the eastern side of the country - but that requires a 2-night stay to do it any justice.
