You will have a great time on your trip to Colombia as long as nothing bad happens to you... and you don't get yourself in any trouble...

Medellín is beautiful around Christmas and New Year's with the Alumbrados Navideños and the Catholic traditions... but Christmas Day can be a little slow for your taste if you don't have family and friends to invite you over...

Medellín and the surrounding areas are very pretty with green mountains... The weather is awesome.. There is a lot to see in Medallo... and more to see in Rionegro, Llanograne, San Antonio de Pereira, El Retiro, La Ceja, Guarné, Santa Elena, Parque Arví, Jardín, Sata Fe de Antioquia... You must see El Peñol, Guatapé and its glorious Represa (take tons of pictures)...

99.99% of Colombians in Medellín only speak Spanish and nothing else... This will be a major handicap for you... but you will stil manage to have an unforgettable time...

Have a safe trip...

No Spanish will be a problem for you. 7 days on San Andres is too long. Try 2 or 3 then take the ferry to Old Providence much much better diving and a complete different Island then San Andres less people and quiet less tourists. Water much clearer more fish and great Island people
. Best part for you all speak English there.

Few people in Colombia aside from the coastal areas speak English. I would use the days you budgeted for Villa de Leyva to stay a bit more in Bogota and visit a couple of natural reserves nearby. No need to spend so many days in Cartagena - it can be seen comfortably in a day - especially if you are heading to San Andres during your trip.

I agree with the above; that 3 days in Villa de Leyva is too many. I have been to Villa de Leyva once for an afternoon and that was fine for me. I would spend a day or two more in Bogota.

I agree with people I would stay more in bogota which is beautiful and underestimated.....there is a lot of culture, a lot of things to do and around is full of places to have a one day visit...like guatavita, zipaquira´etc...
medellin is pleasant but actually I got disappointed bcause isn't turistically interesting.....actually bogota´is the capital and u understand why...enjoy

Hi,
no Spanish not necessary is a problem, hotels & restaurants have English spoken people. At the end the Spanish basic is not so difficult, anyway be careful, be careful, always assess if you really have understood the advices.

3 days Bogotá.... very short time for this city
3 days Cartagena ... may be 5 days i better, Cartagena above all it is good for night life. I add to your trip "Isla del Rosario"
5 days Santa marta tayora park cıudad perdıda walk. mınca forest ... with accommodation in Santa Marta (let me suggest http://www.apartamentossantamartarodadero.com ) is too short time to visit all you describe, please consider 10 days
7 days San Andres ... too much time, better including Providencia
7 days for Medellın ... probably too much time
Calı Pasto ... Cali 2 days I suggest Zona Rosa by night and la Corrida, Fiera de Cali is incredible !

Have a nice trip
