Too low for hotel or pousada. Look for hostel dorm beds or maybe private rooms on one of the hostel booking sites. O Sorriso do Lagarto is in Savassi.

Last time I've been in Belo Horizonte it was three years ago. Savassi is a nice place but expensive. I stayed on Mercure Apartments, near BH Shopping I closed a deal on R$210.00 for three people after negotiating. Hotels in Centro are less expensive. We gave up looking for hostels (“pousadas”) because there could be up to 12 people in the same bedroom and only one bathroom to share. Anyway, I listed some of them below. Prices are of three years back.
1- O Sorriso do Lagarto Hotel e Pousada – rua Cristina, 791 . From R$45.00 to R$99.00.
2- Anchieta Residence – rua Montes Claros, 1180. From R$75.00 to R$119.00.
3- Pousada Nossa Casa – rua Pium-i, 421. R$90.00.
