La Paz/Santa Cruz to Tupiza and back?
I apologize if this has been posted. I've looked for similar ones to no avail, but do excuse me if I missed one.I find my original travel plans disintegrating due to backwards planning on my account!
I signed up with a tour that starts in La Paz and ends in Lima. I decided to save myself some money and tour the salt flats separately from Tupiza then make my way to La Paz 4-5 days later FROM Uyuni (where the 3/4 day Salt Flat tour would finish). In theory it sounded like it would work:(
However, here's where it gets a wee dicey. I need a international airport (from Canada) and am only now realizing (I know I know) my optional airports are La Paz or Santa Cruz. Now it seems like I will be backtracking and my time-line has gone to pot.
Am I overlooking anything someone with a knowledge of the transpo system is likely aware of?
It seems I'll be flying in to one of the main airports there and taking a bus/train to Tupiza (which seems like a long trek), only to end up where I started and proceed from there.I had allowed only 1.5 days flying time with 4 days for the Salt Flats with a overnight to La Paz. Obviously this timeline is not going to work...?
Any pointers, help...you name it will be so much appreciated!!

Maybe you could change your itinerary and depart from Uyuni at the end of your trip? I think Amaszones airlines http://www.amaszonas.com/ does flights from the Uyuni airport to La Paz or Santa Cruz.3
I haven't been to Bolivia yet, but on the basis of what I know it seems to me that your difficulties are not insoluble. If you fly into La Paz, you can get a bus to Oruro and the train to Tupiza (provided you arrive on a day that the one of the two trains to Tupiza is running), do your tour from Tupiza (ending in Uyuni) and then fly back to La Paz from Uyuni on http://www.amaszonas.com/

Ah you wonderful people you!!Thanks much, I may have more questions soon, but this is definitely enough to get me going.
Cheers!!
Side note: travelling in Bolivia Easter weekend seems a-ok aside from hotels becoming over-booked (may be fine given I'm pre-disposed to hostels)...I've read (on various blogs and net searches) that the transpo services: bus, train and flight schedules are the same. Can someone confirm this is true?
