Weather advice needed

I arrive in Colombia 13 November for 6 weeks. I know this is the end of the rainy season but every place I look at seems to forecast major rain every day for at least the next two weeks. Can anyone there tell me if there is anywhere that the weather isnt horrible at present? Any ideas of where in general to head for the first part of the trip that may be dryer? I dont mind tropical downpours that are over after an hour or two, it is constant rain that I am trying to avoid that can just makes travel miserable.

My only advice is: don't start in Bogota, or if you have to, get out as soon as possible. That would be one of the worst rainy, cold places. Medellin is definitely sunnier, and so is a lot of the Zona Cafatera. I went to Cartagena and the Carribean coast 2 years ago, and if the weather is similar, it would meet your requirement, mostly with rain that lasts only a few hours at a time. But even that rain practically drowned the streets of Cartagena.

I haven't been everywhere in Colombia, but I was in the south last December 2011. Popayan had just way too much rain all the time, but on the other side of the mountains, San Augustin had absolutely perfect weather.

They just announced yesterday that they are canceling the El Niño alert, which means a normal rainy season which should taper off about mid Dec. instead of a long, extremely wet winter like we've had the last couple years. I agree with the above post, save Bogota for the end as in the rainy season it's cold and wet. Guatape (near Medellin) has ideal weather, 90% of the rain comes at night so you have all day to kayak, swim, hike, fish, bike, etc. It can rain a lot on the coast, and the mosquitoes abound in Parque Tayrona, might want to try and finish there when things dry out.

The last few years the rains have started the last week of October. This year it started mid October and really rained like it meant it. Then it stopped, at the end of October it we had a couple of days of sunshine and thought "hmmmm this is nice" and that sunshine is still here, looks like the torrential rains this year were brief
