I visited a few years ago and it was by far the worst zoo I have seen. Animals in way to small cages. Many to skinny. A lioness had three cubs and two of them drown during a monsoon , she didn't let anyone in to rescue them.Owner is a minister in Cambodian goverment.
Avoid at all costs

Management of the zoo has recently been taken over by some Australian expats and should be vastly improved. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/we-bought-a-zoo-aussies-intervene-to-save-animals-from-a-cruel-fate/story-e6frg6n6-1226489494076. Not sure what the latest info is on opening hours but perhaps you can ask them directly as they have a web site http://teukchhou.com/ and a Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/teukchhou8
The animals are dying and owners fighting, no happy ending herehttp://phnompenhpost.com/2013021261311/National/kampot-zoo-back-in-trouble.html
