Taking dollars to Argenta?

Hi,

I'm travelling to Argentina in December and was wondering if it's a good idea to take dollars into the country, given the high inflation rate? My knowledge of economics isn't particularly good so apologies if this is a silly question!

Very grateful for any advice!

Ewan.

It's not silly, but it's getting asked million times now.
If you don't want to be screwed by official rate and don't mind carrying cash - yes, take as much as you are comfortable with and even better enough for a whole trip.
If you are paranoid of being robbed than it's a price to pay for that, about 20% in exchange...

Many countries have a limit to how much cash you can carry through customs. Does anyone know how much dollars you can bring? Can you "clear it" through customs somehow?

#3 It's common mistake, there are no limits, you just need to declare anything above $10k, not declaring it is illegal, brining as much as you want is legal if you can explain why you bring it and where is it coming from

good idea to bring dollars in cash (well preserved notes without anything written on it) as you can get a better rate on the black market. As said above you just have to declare more than 10.000 USD but in any case I wouldn´t want to run around with 20.000 Dollars in cash either.
