You can fly from Mexico City. Buy your tourist card (a formal visa is not required) at the airport. Travel by land is not, obviously, possible. Less obviously, there is no sea transport between Mexico and Cuba.

You will probably get more replies if you post on the Cuba branch.

The only direct transport to Cuba from Mexico is on Air Cubana (www.cubana.cu - but that site doesn't seem to work at the moment) or Interjet (www.interjet.com.mx). I would prefer Interjet from Mexico City - return fees start from around 410 USD.

Aeromexico has also flights from Mexico to Cuba. It seems you can't book them in the web of Aeromexico but you can make it online in the web of some travel agencies and you can try to book them in one of their sales offices. It isn't usually the cheapest option though.

#3: Aeromexico canceled that service earlier this year - are you certain that they have re-instated it?

I'm seeing right now fares from the Mexico to Havana route in several online travel agencies and I'm seeing the route to Havana listed in the current Aeromexico's schedule (effective since Sep. 24th 2012).

Interjet has--or very shortly will---begin non-stop service between Havana and Monterrey. As #1 says there is no visa requirement---the tourist card can be purchased from the airline at the airport.

"if anyone has made this trip before of if it is possible by land sea or air and if so which would be the best option." From Acapulco you can get on a bus or plane to Mexico City where you catch the onward flight to Cuba.
