Information regarding the east coast after Sandy

Hi There: We will be going to Cuba in January. Landing in Holguin and plan starting our visit in Gibara. We will be in Cuba for about 7 weeks. Any information regarding the situation there after Sandy I would find most interesting. We would like to help as much as possible. A helping hand, work project, or delivering whatever is useful. Please share any knowledge you may have that could better equip us to be of assistance. Thank you in advance for your input.

Everything is needed, it seems, because there are always shortages anyway--tools to make repairs, nails, drill bits (if someone has a drill), saws, work gloves. There are food shortages now, and will be going forward because crops were destroyed.
