Missing Culture ThirstWhat happened to yesterday's post from Culture Thirst? Did the replies get nasty? Poor kid came all this way to Western Europe from the good ol' US of A and found it wasn't like home so had a rant - I expect he's had a cuddle from Mom and Pop's thrown his passport on the fire to make sure he hasn't got to put up with nasty foreign people again when what was really needed was to grow up on a trip to somewhere culturally really different like Kenya or Indonesia . And I thought how poignant on the day when Mr Romney didn't win, but perhaps that's just my prejudice

1Yes mike, where has he gone?
But being culture thirsty, he might go to swing state Florida. In Europe nothing is what is seems to be, the same for the USA

3I think 20 some reactions bjd.
IMO rather constructive though then and when irony and troll suspicions.
But IMO it was too much negative campaigning by OP, USA culture obviously, he/she was afraid to miss after 6 November?!

4The irony was that a lot of the post was fairly accurate, just a very negative interpretation. If it was a troll it was more aimed at the stereotype of US attitudes rather than the experience of Europe. I wonder if the OP intended that?

10We had another view yesterday of some US people, and what they think of those countries in the rest of the world, when someone tweeted that after the US elections she was moving to Australia because 'The President there stands by what he says, and he believes in God'.
I wonder what she thought when she was told that Australia does not have a President but a Prime Minister, she is a woman and an atheist?
I am sure she will finish up in Austria if she does move.

14He posted a thread on the Gap Year branch, asking for the best way to travel a completely bogus route, and on the Long Haul branch he asked for a remedy against "biffing" (whatever that may mean) on long-haul flights.
I don't mind a troll every now and then, but only if they have any entertainment value. This lazy bastard didn't even bother to try and make us believe he was a genuinely narrow minded person, rather than pretending to be the legendary insular, ignorant American - there were just a few too many stereotypes in his "trip report" to hide his trolling.
Funny trolls are OK, not-funny ones should be exterminated.
