Comm Bank Cash for Myanmar

I can't find the answer through google anywhere so I'm going to ask here.

When ordering foreign currency on the commenwealth bank site you are asked if you are visiting a list of countries, Myanmar, North Korea, Cuba, Iran and Sudan before the transaction is processed.

Will they deny you currency if you say yes?

I'm pretty sure the list of countries are restricted due to Government Regulations, so 'Yes' you'll be denied.

You can easily get your cash on arrival in Yangon/Mandalay.

I'm talking US dollars bro.

I won't be able to use an ATM in the country so unless I have cash I'll be screwed!

You'll be able to exchange when you're there, around K850 to the (Pristine) US$.

I don't know about Comm Bank but with Westpac I think the problem is that they use American Express for their foreign exchange service, and they are subject to a continuing US embargo.

Either walk in to a money changer (they never ask) or bank branch with a foreign exchange counter, or order in advance on the Travelex website using Bpay (much better rate than walk-in). But most definitely do this before you leave Oz.

Sorry Dalmes,

Seems I misunderstood your question, I thought you meant you were trying to get Kyats.

If you're just ordering US$, I wouldn't bother saying where you're going.

If you do say you are going to Burma, you will be denied. You are going to Thailand.

Dalmes...any reason you can't go into your local bank branch....I dont think you save any $$ by ordering CBA on-line (??) you still get slugged the fee, and with walk in they dont ask any Q's....(I order mine thru my local NAB and sometimes actually mention I am going to Myanmar & therefore need good quality notes)...either way you dont have to tell em where you are going. You dont need a bank with a exchange booth, they will order it in for you.
Money changers are also an option, but less chance of getting good quality notes from them. Mine ordered from the NAB are always pristine notes.
