Statehood referendum?

I know this is a travel not political site, but this is on the boundary. Are folks in PR surprised by the outcome of yesterday's referendum on Statehood/Commonwealth/Independent status? Is tthe vote for statehood expected to result in any actual change?

Relatedly, as someone on the US (mainland) banch just asked, should PR now be moved out of the Caribbean branch and into that one?

We are not surprised, but we don't expect any changes in the near future. The referendum was non-binding, so the US Congress is not obliged to accept its outcome. It was just a magnified survey boosted by the local government. Puerto Rico is still in the Caribbean and it's still a non incorporated territory of the US. Cheers!
