Route visiting every country in South America? (1year+ trip)

I have been researching a trip through South America - visiting every country starting June next year for 1 year+...... Any tips on what what routes to take? (all answers much appreciated!)

We are currently thinking of starting in Chile - heading up to Venezuela, across into Brazil and then up into the Guyanas. From there back into to Brazil to finish off with Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina...

Any comments/critiques would be most welcome! (whether they relate to the question or not)

Cheers

If you are into outdoors stuff check out the best time of year for the climate in each area.

Im hesitant to say, as to start a thread that could spiral out of control...... But you can choose 1 of two routes.
Both a circle, but the choice is whether to move clockwise, or counter clockwise.
Each way has it pluss and minuss. Each side can, and will be, backed, and/or debunked, by the cabals on this branch that back each route.
Beware, some potesters here are double, sometimes triple agents, and only use this forum to offer up lies and misdirection.
Thats all i can say.....
Good luck, and godspeeeed.

That's a long trip, that can be done in several ways. I'd start it (Santiago) and then come back with more specific questions.
One thing that can be said is the 12 months+ should be suitable for the entire trip. And I assume, your budget would be at least US$ 18,000 pp.

I'd aim to be in Patagonia over the summer months, late Nov to Feb. Also try to avoid the Andean countries during this time as it's their rainy season.

Hazzdog has got it: the main organizing principle is to be far south during summer. Secondary principle: evade rainy seasons at high altitudes, since that translates to clouds, chill, landslides, mud and sometimes snow.

Once you've figured that part out you can start to put a route together. Of course, you're not going to avoid all wintery weather, and you're certainly going to catch some rain no matter what you do.

And watch out for those "cabals!"

Route visiting every country in South America?

Do you plan to visit the Falkland Islands too? And the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands?

...thanks everyone who has written back so far. I will definitely try and take the advice on avoiding the andes during the rainy season!

A bit more info - the only Islands off the main continent that i plan to visit currently are the Galapagos and possibly Easter Island.....and when i say every country i mean all 13 on the continent (if French Guinea is considered a country - regardless i plan on getting there because it looks awesome!).

Any more recommendations/opinions would be great.

Cheers

That might be hard to avoid. It's part of the nature in South Am, whether in the Andes or lowlands.
