Security problems for Danes??

Hi.

This December im gonna travel from India to Teheran over land. Im gonna take train/bus from Lahore to Quetta to Zahedan to Isfahan to Teheran.

Im from Denmark (but dont have blond hair). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark dont recommend that i, as a danish person, travel through Sistan-Baluchistan and Kerman.

I cant be identified as a danish person, except from my passport. My trip is only tourism.

Would there be a higher risk for danish people travelling thorugh Southeast Iran than other nationalities?
I not gonna tell where im from, except then people ask (which i heard Iranians do alot, a way of being freindly), should i try to cover up my nationality in any way?

Nikolaj

I can't really offer any new opinions, but that area of Iran has been considered "risky" for years now. Hopefully others here have some newer information.

Do a search. Use the advanced option to limit dates. There are recent posts on this route, especially in the Pakistan forum.

That area is not very safe, (especially for women, if you are). I'm not agree that that area is not safe for foreigners. Local people help traveler and do hospitality. But do not trust easily if you have any valuable stuff. Don't stop anywhere for long time and if you travel during days you'll be safe.

Local people can't speak English very well. You need to know few Persian words to ask address or general question.

Best thing you can do is to find someone in couchsurfing.org, they will host you and show you the area.

Go to CHA-BAHAR, near to Zahedan and stay for one or two days. It's a developed city next to the sea and has a very beautiful nature.
You can also take a plain or bus from Cha-bahar to Keraman, Bandar-Abbas, Yazd or Isfahan.

Wish you a nice journey,

Have not been excatly there only ón the route from Tehean to Siraz.
Telling people that you are from Denmark has never been a problem for me - most Can easly make a diff between you and the stupid drawings years ago. Many will not even know that Westergaard was from Denmark...

Enjoy Iran
