Guest Houses/Lodgings/Hotels in Ngapali Beach

HI all. I am looking for lodgings in Ngapali Beach for New Years. It is my first time traveling there and don't know where to look for lodgings or where to stay. Can someone recommend some goods places to stay, eat and to do there? I am on a budget and don't want to spend too much money. Thanks for all your help. Much appreciated, Alexa

Lin-Thar-Oo and Memento are both decent places...and similar prices...not exactly 'budget' but the cheapest options at Ngapali...I paid $35 a night for a single room last Feb (2012) at Lin Thar Oo, it was beach front but in 1 building of 4 rooms, and was a middle one (end ones were more expensive)....there are cheaper 'garden' bungalows back a bit from the beach...Memento was similar price. Both places have websites for emailing and booking...they will probably qquote a price for more xpensive rooms first, but tell them you are on a budget and ask for the cheapest option.... They both have a restaurant and there are a bunch of restaurants nearby.

I agree with rival tribe memento is next door used to be part of Lyn Thar oo till business sold few years ago, they still have the old huts behind but the days of $8 B&B ;-)) (2years ago) are long gone Im afraid, but love the breakfast buffet and great place to stay. best restaurants are turn left out of gate and first on left + the one opposite great seafood too

We've been trying to book something for NYE as well and can't find anything available. Were you successful? We're now considering other beaches for NYE...

We were able to book Hill Garden Hotel via Agoda for $24 for a double. It seems to have decent feedback and includes breakfast, but about 1.2km from center of town.

How does everyone feel about this location vs. the other guesthouses mentioned above? Is this one nicer, but farther out?

How much does travel by taxi/car cost form Yangon to Chaung Tha Beach? Wondering whether it's worthwhile to consider over bus travel. We'd be flying from Heho to Yangon and traveling to the beach the same day, so trying to figure out the best option that's also reasonably priced. If we take a bus to Pathein, how much is the taxi from there?

Thank you.
