Day buses - Ubon to Bangkok

Ok, i am going to risk the wrath of some more experienced travellers, i have searched this but nothing recent coming up...

I want to leave Pakse, go over the border to Ubon, using the international bus service, arriving in Ubon about 11.30. I then want to get Bangkok the same day, not use a night bus. I think i have seen that in 2007 people were saying there were loads of buses to Bangkok during the day but other threads suggest you have to hang around for night bus. LP says bus is eight hours, so can i get one midday onwards and get to Bangkok about eight or nine? Long day i know but trying to catch up some time.

Thanks to those with patience to respond!!!

I dont have an answer but why would you be expecting the wrath of more experienced travellers! After all it s a question that doesnt arise very often unlike some that get asked every day.
I'd cross post this on Thailand Branch because its more specific for there.

best bus company for this route = Nakhonchai Air
Ubon Ratchathani-Bangkok timings in left column, 2nd table from top:
http://www.nca.co.th/runway.php
there's a 1:00PM bus, Gold Class (http://www.nca.co.th/goldclass.php), fare = 603 baht (573 baht for members)
best to book ahead cos this is the last daytime bus of the day that you can catch, & this company should be the top choice of locals who can afford it.

the other reliable company (Transport Co.) doesn't seem to have daytime buses: http://home.transport.co.th/en/bus-schedule/253-time-table-northeastern.html

not sure about other companies.

dont worry they leave all the time for Bangkok or indeed Korat (Nakon ratchasima) where from there they they leave every 1/2 hr for Bangkok and the buses pass through here anyway or at least Kabin Buri so if no immediate bus to Bangkok they will direct you through either place just remember at Ubon Ratchadamri mention Kabin Buri / Korat if no direct bus to Bangkok in next fe minutes Ha! Ha!

always the night train to consider - much more comfortable if you go 2nd class sleeper
