Transportation from Dubai to Qasr Al Sarab

Hi all,

I'm going to Qasr Al Sarab in Abu Dhabi from Dubai in December with my wife.
After checking out Qasr Al Sarab, we are going to Emrates Palace in Abu Dhabi.

I have asked the transportation service to Qasr Al Sarab, but it is very expensive for us.
From Dubai to Qasr al sarab costs about 1150AED, and to Emirates Palace costs 850AED.
The total is 2,000AED.

We don't have car license, so we don't have intentions to rent a car.

If we want to save budget, what is a good transportation in this case?
Is it easy for us to use taxi?

Thanks in advance,

Tomi

Hotels always charge premium prices for transportation.

A taxi from Dubai to Abu Dhabi city will cost around AED250-300. Taxi from Dubai to Qasar Al Sarab is probably going to be around AED600-700. Dubai taxi rates are AED1.60 per kilometre. Abu Dhabi fares are slightly cheaper.

A cheaper option is to take the express bus from Dubai to Abu Dhabi city (about AED25) then a taxi from Abu Dhabi city to Qasar Al Sarab which I estimate would be around AED300-400.

Taxis are easy to use and it is very honest and well regulated. Drivers always use the meter. You can ask for a fixed price, but it's unlikely the driver will do this as it's illegal, but you never know.

Dear dxb1969,

Thank you very much for the info. It is very useful.

Using bus to Abu Dhabi and taxi to Qasr Al Sarab sounds great for us.
We are relieved that taxi service in Dubai is reliable.

I've heard that in Dubai men and women should use buses for each gender.
Is this correct?

Tomi, I'm pleased to be able to help you.

There's no such thing as separate buses for men and women in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE. Men and women all use the same bus.

The express buses to Abu Dhabi leave from Al Ghubaiba bus station in Bur Dubai. it may even be possible to find a shared taxi at Abu Dhabi bus station to take you up to Liwa but don't count on it - very few people go there.

Dear dxb1969,

Thank you again for your advice. Your info is very helpful.

We will use the express bus from Al Ghubaiba to Abu Dhabi. It seems very convenient and smooth.

We can't wait to visit UAE.

Take the Green Line to Al Ghubaiba metro station. The journey should only take around 15 mins. You can find a Dubai metro map here:

The best way is to book using other booking agents. One i know and best is http://www.dubaitraveltaxi.com/contactus.aspx
they are way too cheap. Qasar Al Sarab have very expensive limo and other cars.
