need help for trip to finland northern lights search.hi, i am planning a trip to finland in search of northern lights. so i will be heading up north. but i have a few qsns, hopefully anyone who has travel up north finland before could provide some help.
1) how do i get from Helsinki to the towns up north, for example Ivalo, or Rovaniemi? i know there are train services running ftom Helsinki airport, is the train station at the airport itself, or do i have to take a bus/cab to the train station?
just wondering how is the transport system in Finland like.

1Bus 61 from the airport takes you to Tikkurila, where you can connect for the overnight train to Rovaniemi, but it's simpler and quicker to take a connecting flight. There are no trains to Ivalo, which is much farther north.
Look back in this forum for posts about the aurora borealis. Getting a sighting may not be as simple as you think.

2when are you planning on coming? ATM there is a lot of snow around, and so the night sky is not good for aurora's. if you can wait a few weeks ou will have a better chance of seeing one.
you can bus or train to Rovanieimi, or fly straight to Ivalo. the difference between the train cost and flight cost is not very much, and the plane onl takes about 90 minutes. from Ivalo take a bus to Inari, there is a hostel there for 35 euro a night. its a good little village with excellent hiking.
