Guatemala continuing travel restrictions

I'm flying into Guatemala City and traveling Central America for a few months. I haven't bought a ticket home yet because I don't want to restrict myself with having to be somewhere. I've been reading however that they might not even let you into Guatemala if you don't have proof that you're traveling on. Does anyone know about this and have any advice? Suggestions?
Thanks,
Ryan

It's the airlines, not immigration. Many threads on this subject here. Do a search.

With the inmigration of Guatemala you are fine, the only ones who places restricctions is Nicaragua, Panama and Costa Rica.!!

Best to fly into Cancun MX and bus down the Yucatan for most westerners as they dont have a "Onward Requirement" that the airlines must enforce, prior to you even boarding.

i have flown into each of the those countries and never been asked of prove of onward ticket. but have read about travelling overland and they have some kind of scam at the borders that sounds like a kick back thing.
