Average daily spend beside hotels

What is the average spend a day in Myanmar? We will be doing the round trip Yangon - Golden rock - Inle lake - Mandelay - Bagan and Ngapali. We've got crisp dollars and Euro's. But would like to know if 50 dollars a day for 2 persons is oke. Hotels are already booked and payed.

$50 a day should be fine without a hotel. I traveled as a budget backpacker and lived on much less than that with hotels included. I realize everyone travels differently but here is a blog post on my spending habits: http://www.onewayticketphil.com/budgeting-for-two-weeks-of-travel-in-myanmar-burma/

Should be OK but depends how you travel and where you eat etc. How many days are you going for?

Nice blog Phil
And agree, if this budget is on top of hotels and you aren't planning any flights then that should be fine

$25 each ? You will have food ,transport ,some entrance fees ,souveniers, beer and hopefully a little charity . Better have some extra ,just in case .

You would travel comfortably on $50 a day. Almost certainly your Hotels will include breakfast, and reasonable meals would only be a 3 or 4 dollars each, so food costs won't be huge. So you will head home with some dolars, but safer that way, as running out of dollars in Myanmar with no ATMs would be problematic.

Thanks for the help. We got more then $50 a day. Our trip will last 3 weeks sadly. No more holidays left. Flights and boat are aready booked as well. We will need some transport from airport to town v.v. and to get around. Best thing to know is that I've got enough crisp dollars with me.

Nice blog btw Phil

I was spending about K2500 per day on beer (draft) and whiskey, K5000 or less on food.

Prices on a bottle of Myanmar brand beer ranged from K1800 to K2200. A bottle of Grand Royal whisky should cost K700 to K1500 depending on the size, and double price for the "special reserve," which I thought was worth it. "Mandalay Rum" is rotgut, so unless you are addicted to rum, forget it. Near Sule Pagoda in Yangon, there is a bar where you can get a draft Myanmar and two shots of Grand Royal for an even K1000 if you don't let the waiters cheat you. The ice there is clean (ice!!!). Recognize it by the large fan in front.

Prices on a meal with a lot of rice and some protein and condiments was usually K1500 to K2500. But in Katta, I paid K1000 to an Indian man who gave me a lunch of soup, curry, condiments, and tea, and gave me free seconds as well. It's possible to eat street food for very little, maybe K300 per meal, but you are just getting soup. I had been sick recently and decided not to pinch on food so much. Save money by eating a large breakfast at your guesthouse or hotel.

Taxi from downtown Yangon to the bus station (Aung Mingalar) or airport, K9000. City bus to the bus station, K300. Motorcycle taxis vary from K500 to K1500. In general, except in Yangon and Mandalay, no distance I went was worth the price of a taxi. Just walked.

I did not buy any souvenirs, but I was tempted to buy lacquer-ware in Bagan. Plan USD25-3500 for lacquer-ware.

I was definitely spending more on accommodation than on other expenses.
