Electricity adaptors from UK to Brazil (Rio)

I'm massively confused by the information online regarding electric plug adaptors for UK plugs to be used in Brazil (Rio De Janeiro specifically) and Buenos Aires.
Can anybody recommend a plug adaptor that works OK, and also protects the device from power surges due to the difference in voltage in Rio?
Thanks!

Adaptors and surge protectors can be completey different. Lots of sites like http://www.travel-images.com/electric-plugs.html A surge isn't due to a difference in voltage, but due to a, well, surge-- uneven flow. Most cameras, computers, etc. should be dual voltage. Hair dryer? Use one in your hotel. Brazil can be confusing on voltage. One site says, "127 V found in states of Bahia, Paraná (including Curitiba), Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Minas Gerais (though 220 V may be found in some hotels). Other areas are 220 V only, with the exception of Fortaleza (240 V)." I think Buenos Aires is 220v. Many adapters you find will be adjustable for different types of outlets. No biggie.
