Banff - Activities?

I'm in Banff in December for over a week and I will obviousily be doing skiing when I am there.

What other activities would you reccommend I do while I am there?!

Sorry, posted this for your earlier post...

There are a few hostels available, personally Ive only stayed at the tunnel mountain one a many moons ago, but it was great, and I havent heard many bad things about the others.

Keep in mind you'll be arriving when schools are finishing for the semester, the town and ski hills will be busy! Book early!!

Dogsledding and snowmobiliing. Neither are cheap but are very cool experiences if you are not from Canada.

Snow shoeing, dog sledding, ice walk on frozen canyon, explore banff town, go skating or tobogganing, pub crawl, hot springs there is tons of stuff to do in banff in winter time! Check out the tourist centers for the things I mentioned above. Cheers!

Dog sledding was mind blowing! we went with Snowy Owl and we saw the dogs from another company and they weren't nearly in the same condition. Snowy owl also lets you guide the sled yourself. There is also a really good cross country skiing centre at Canmore just outside Banff which is really good and no where near as packed as the ski resorts.

All the things love2travel mentioned above along with being pulled in a horse sleigh, shopping for mainly over-priced, pretty items, checking out the Banff basin (was closed last time I was there, hopefully open now), taking the gondola up sulpher mountain- which is especially beautiful at night, and if you're adventurous trying exotic meats like rattlesnake, wild boar, and venison at the Grizzley house.
