Bus from Yangshuo to Nanning direct
Hi - this may be helpful to some so thought I would share. Was recently in Yangshuo and all my research showed would have to go back to Guilin to get a bus to Nanning, but not so. There are 3 direct buses per day (we got the 8.00am one) and takes about 5 hours. Thanks, Heather1
I tried Nanning to Yangshuo direct a few years ago and it was not possible. I even tried Nanning - Liuzhou - Yangshuo but it too went through Guilin-- or at least going through Guilin was faster than waiting for the local bus with many stops from Liuzhou to Yangshuo.Do the direct buses go right through Guilin anyway (or at least up as far as the Guilin ring highway)? Because the only other option on a map looks to be heading west from Pingle on the G323, and the G323 is a very slow highway

Hi Woolf135, didn't take much notice of the route to be honest but it was all highway and very quick. I was surprised in fact how little traffic was on the road. It certainly didn't go through Guilin or even the edges of the city. Bearing in mind this was Yangshuo to Nanning, but assume the Nanning to Yangshuo route would be the same? Things seem to change a lot in China very quickly which is probably why I couldn't find the info I needed on line and waited until I got to Yangshuo which then, luckily, provided the direct route we needed. As I said the journey took about 5 hours including 2 short stops. We did this trip literally last week.3
Last time I was in Guangxi (Less than 3 months ago), they were digging up pretty much the entire length of the road between Yangshuo and Guilin, reducing the flow of traffic to a crawl. Ergo, if any bus from any other location was going there, I'm pretty sure they'd avoid the main Guilin to Yangshuo highway if humanly possible.4
Hi Heather, Great news about Yangshuo to Nanning DIRECT bus! Does this mean it hasn't come from Guilin and all the good seats at the front have gone? Also, are the tickets you buy in Yangshuo seat location/no specific? Or is it a case of first on first pick of seats system? Finally, how much did the ticket[s] cost? Thanks Mike

Hi Mike, sorry about late reply. The bus originated from Yangshuo and we had seat numbers on our tickets, so they are allocated when you book them. Can't remember how much we paid for the ticket though. HeatherADVERTISEMENT
