Halong Bay - how longHello!
We are planning to visit Vietman in December.
We also will take tour on Halong Bay.
Is one-day tour on Halong Bay enough?
Do we miss out something important to see when we give up on 2-days tour?
We will not be kayaking or swimming..so we do not need extra time on that..
Thank you so much for any advice on the matter!

I think a 2 day 1 night cruise is better than the day cruise for some reasons:
+ the overnight cruises go farther than the day cruise so you can visit more places
+ enjoy the service on board
+ less tired (as you have to spend about 3.5 hours on the bus from Hanoi to Halong Bay and another 3.5 hours to return)
Even if you do not join the kayaking or swimming, you can take time to relax.

3Always difficult to answer such a question. Imo Halong Bay is one of the lovliest places anywhere. For me the 3day/2nite trip wasn't quite enough. Others on the same boat seemed more interested in napping or chatting than taking in the scenery. Only you know what you'll enjoy. I definately think you should spend at least 1 nite on the boat. Aside from the reasons given by #1 there's also the possibility of visiting a cave and doing a short hike or 2. Give it some time. You may regret it if you don't.

5I've always gone for 2 nights, since I enjoy kayaking - it's a far better way to look around than just staying on the boat IMO, although it does bring you much closer to all the trash floating around these days.
If your goal is to snap a few dozen pictures of the amazing landscape, then a day trip will be enough. If you want to relax a bit more and see some of the scenery up close (caves, floating villages, etc..) then go for at least one night, preferably two.

10Views could be described as a little better if you take a 1- or 2-night trip, if only because the day trip boats don't go out as far and tend to follow the same circuit. This means that on a day tour you'll have more boats near yours, more noise, more people at the sites, etc.. The overnight trips are a bit quieter and give you more varied scenery.
But frankly, at the end of the day, for photography alone there might not be a lot of difference between the rock formations you see on a day trip and those you see on an overnight trip !

11one day tour without night? may be a rush. I suggest Halong bay day tours with 1D1N. A night on a boat may be awesome.

13Halong bay day tours is great, check it then decide if you want to have one day or more since only one day in Halong may be too rush and especially you will miss the chance to stay overnight on cruise.
