Sicily - what shall I do for a week?I am staying in Taormina for a week in April. I have visited the city before in 2007 when I also visited Palermo and Cefalu.
I have been lucky enough to win this holiday and so what would people recommend I do, day trips, restaurants to try etc etc.
How warm will it be at the end of April?
Is the scuba diving recommended here and do you know any good dive shops?
Other outdoor adventure activities?

1Are you going to have a car? That will make a big difference on where (and how far/fast) you can go....
Also...what is your budget? Its not a cheap place ;-)
Weather in April should be warm (maybe 20s),usually sunny with occasional rain.
I don't think there is any good diving in that area. There are beaches and a nice sea,but its going to be pretty cold to get in the water. Many people use Taormina as a base to visit Etna...you can do walking, climbing etc. there...or else 'cultural' destinations like Siracusa or Noto (though they are a pain to get to by public transport).

2The beaches are delightful for walking and enjoy the sun now in late april, Sicily’s swim season begins in early May –
try to visit the Aeolians, will depart from Trapani, begin in Catania or Taormina and end in Trapani.
Check Ustica Lines for hydrofoil schedules and fares to the Aeolian Islands.

You can trek Mount Etna without a guide, even to the highest craters, but there is danger and risk, and certainly for your safety, it would be recommended to trek with an experienced alpine guide, especially if you intend to trek to the highest craters.
