Problems with Ethiopian

Hi,
we booked our trip to Ethiopia and Zanzibar with Ethiopian several month ago. Everything was perfect. We arrive during the day in Zanzibar and also prebooked Hotels in Addis and Stonetown. Now, months later they changed all our international flights, without telling us why.

We arrive on another day in Zanzibar and in middle of the night… with stopover in Dar and the return flight is the next day at 3AM. I wrote to the airline but didn't get any response. Is this the normal for Ethiopian?

2nd post on this in just over 24hr

Read here: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?threadID=2266309&messageID=20442289#20442289

I am convinced they are changing their schedules as they're receiving more 787's perfectly normal for an airline to do this!

Well, the original flights we booked are still on their website. They still fly to Dar and Zanzibar during the day and at night. Don't know why they booked us on their night-flight? We originally payed some extra money NOT to arrive at night in Zanzibar. My friend seriously thinks about canceling the whole trip with Ethiopian.

They're a great airline ... you may find that the flight time changes again ... for the better!

Got the same problem last year with a Royal Air Maroc flight to Marrakech from Brussels. Some airlines don't hesitate to move passengers to more unconvenient hours if their best hours sell out first. Then they are able again to sell tickets for the more convenient flight.

Ethiopian is notorious for changing times. Domestic and international. Other than that they are a good airline.

If their timetable shows flights at times more convenient for you than those you have been given, telephone them and ask to be put on the better flights.

I have happily used Ethiopian for many years, but me too I had a similar experience a week ago. A different flight than yours was cancelled just two days before the departure and another flight was offered in the following day. Somebody suspected they don't have many customers anymore, there is now more competition with Turkish, Rwandair and even SAA but don't know whether that holds the truth.

@Fulana

this kind of thing has been happening for the last 3 years since I am familiar with Ethiopian, I don't think it has to do with the competition with Turkish
