Guesthouse for a family - Windhoek

Hi All,

I looked in the archives, but didn't see much on either place. Does anyone have any personal experience with either Tamboti or Pension Steiner? My first choice was Rivendell, but they are booked for part of our time there (July 2013), so I was looking around for another choice. Looking for clean, safe and more or less centrally located. Thanks for any ideas!

Regards,
Jenn

Hi Jenn,

I am writing to you from ATI Holidays, Rivendells Guest House's sister company.
thank you very much for thinking of Rivendell first!

I have had a look and it appears that there is a school group that is travelling to Namibia and has a few days in July where they have booked out the guest house.

I could recommend that you try The Elegant Guest House. if you have a look at the pricing, it is not that much more expensive than Rivendell.
Failing that, I would probably suggest Tamboti, but only because I don't know Pension Steiner

I am really sorry that we are unable to assist you this time around, but I do hope that you and your family have a fantastic holiday to Namibia next year!

Hi Jenn
we stayed last year at www.hoteluhland.com and loved it.

I've stayed at Tamboti several times when I've been in town and needed a guest house. It is really fine. It's pretty good value for money when I compare it to other guest houses in Windhoek.

Otherwise, Schwalbenheim in the same neighborhood is also a great option if you'd prefer a self-catering type of accommodation. Big flats with fully equipped kitchen and laundry machine etc.

Thanks for all the tips and ideas! One thing I liked about Rivendell (aside from the positive reviews on Trip Advisor) is that they have a kitchen for guests. A few people, including our safari providers, have recommended Tamboti, but I am still hoping to find something with a kitchen or more of a self-catering flat. Perhaps Schwalbenheim is a good fit?
