Road Travel Advice Needed
My husband and I are planning to travel from The Gamba to Sierra Leone by road in December. We have heard that it could take a whole month for us to reach our destination because the roads are bad. Has anyone ever done this road journey, if so how long did it take, what are the roads like the dangers you had to face.Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

The roads are getting a lot better but ...Which route are you intending to take? Via Senegal - Guinea Bissau - Guinea or Senegal - Guinea? Via which border crossing?
It would help if you could give more of an outline of which way you want to go, what you want to see & how long you have. It 'could' be done in as little as 4 days ... particuarly in December during the dry season

Hi Kira,The border crossing will be via senegal - Guinea Bissau. We have two weeks. Please could you tell us what to see as we have never been there before.
Thank you for replying.

I think a search of blogs about the region should help, I've got one below. You have time to see a fair deal but you'll have to keep moving .. you could spend:
Night(s) in Zigchuinor - & pick up G.Bissau visa
Night in Bissau - pick up Guinean visa
Night(s) on Ilha de Bubaque
2 days from Bissau to Labe (Guinea) possibly.
Night in Labe or (preferably!) Fouta Djalon region, harmattan permitting!
Go through Guinea towards Kankan & cross the SL border from the north ... roads aren't great apparently but I would think it would be a wonderful experience; look up Giora who I think did this
I feel that you need to get more of an understanding for the region & come back with questions!
Kira
