I thought Shaen's response was rather odd too. Hope you work something out and find somewhere that you really enjoy.

You don't "Fit in" anywhere in less than a year, normally 2, unless all your associates are like you (ie. travellers on WHV's). Still, maybe Sydney isn't the place for you, after 10 years I still felt I didn't really fit in, due to the cultural differences between me and Sydneysiders. All my friends were foreigners. Despite all the Aussie talk of mateship, I saw little real friendship amongst the Aussies I knew. One workmate (late 30's, Sydney all his life), when suddenly in need of temporary accommodation, only had me to turn to, then moved to a hotel after an altercation with my flatmate. Unless you have an activity you're really keen on and participate in, such as a sport, the locals will have little reason to include you in their lives.

OP Try Cairns or Broome instead, far more friendly places, both a bit hot this time of year but if you're from BKK then it shouldn't be a problem,
FWIWI find Sydney people, and the type that go there, very insular and unfriendly too.
