Spending the first of 16 days in Italy in Rome. How about this literary
Day 1Arrive 2:40pm get checked in, reserve tour for the Coliseum, and Galleria Bourges, go out walk around (maybe ride bus to train station or even try to get into the center (depending on how tired we are). Try to buy Roma pass. Drink some wine and try to pass out early.
Day 2
Get up early bus/train to Coliseum take tour of underground and 3rd level, and then see the Forum/palatine hill. Spend whole day in this area. Is Capitoline Museum in this area?
Day 3
Morning/early afternoon, Villa Bourges, Afternoon, see some sights (Pantheon area)?
Day 4
Ostia Antica (morning), Afternoon, sights (Trastevere?)
Day 5
Vatican
Day 6
Hadrian’s Villa or Tarquinia (would love to do both but couldn’t find the time)
Day 7
Monday, most things closed? So we will try to see more churches and just walk around.
Day 8
Apia way/catacombs
All of these days can be switched up they don’t need to be in this order.
Will be trying to fit in some of the major churches in the area’s we are in each day. But considering we are also going to Florence and Venice we will be seeing plenty of churches. Also we don’t really know what we will be doing at night (any suggestions as to sights that also look good at night), we will probably do the nightclub thing one night but other than that we need idea’s. We would also like to see Museums, but don’t know which ones to see (again we will be in Florence and Venice, and will probably see the big ones in those towns, so we will try to pick the ones in Rome to see, based on what we will see in Florence/Venice.
Our interests are mostly Ancient architecture, famous Paintings/Sculptures. Honestly we don’t exactly know what we want to see, pretty much the touristy things, but hope we have left enough time to wander.
So are there some of the places I have listed that could be combined into one day? We hope to pick area’s to see each day and see the major site in each area, well at least some of them.
We are 33 and 28. So long days and lots of walking will not be a problem (even though I dislocated my kneecap and will be limping the hole way, but am determined to tuff it out). Also I should have put this in the first post but we will be in Rome from January 8th until the 15th and leaving on the morning of he 16th for Florence.
