Entry requirement for Brazil - Yellow Fever certficate?

I am currently backpacking through South America and my bag got stolen from a bus station in Santiago last night.

In my bag was my yellow fever certficate.

As a UK citizen, am I required to show this as I cross into the Brazilian border?

If so, will a photocopy of the original certification suffice or do I require another authentic copy of a yellow fever certificate to be sent from the UK?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

I come from the US, but I've never been asked for the certificate. I think the rules regarding this may have changed about four years ago, so that only people coming from high-risk places (such as parts of Africa) have to show the card. In any case, I think if you're asked for it you can just get another jab instead. But I don't think you will. I've made five separate trips to Brazil over the last couple of years and never been asked for it.

Technically it's only asked for if you come from an area where YF is endemic. This applies to certain parts of Peru, Bolivia Ecuador etc. That said I came back from Peru earlier this year and wasn't asked to show my card.

I have never been asked to show it in South America. The one time I had to show it was coming back into Australia. You might have to do this when you go back to the UK.
