Day trips to Vinales

Has anyone booked a daytrip to Vinales from Havana with Cuba Travel Network? If so... how was the trip? I do not have much time in Cuba.

I would never book something like that in advance. Every hotel has a tour desk and even if you're not a guest you can always walk in and book any number of their excursions. Then you can do that to FIT your plans.

Or, contact either Jorge or Pototo and they can arrange a private car/driver to take you which while more expensive than a bus tour will give you the best flexibility and ability to see things. I'm at work now so can't post their contact info but hopefully someone will post it for you.

krimbert: I am making the bold assumption that you are somewhat new to Cuba based only on the nature of your question. If I am wrong, please excuse me.

The common goal of new Cuban travelers is to try to see as much of Cuba as possible. But my opinion is that Cuba is a place to experience not to see. I love Vinales but would question if it is worth spending the time traveling to and from there to have the little bit of time remaining in the day to actually do something there.

You indicate you do not have much time in Cuba. Consider if there is a better use of your limited time than spending a good part of a day traveling to and from Vinales. Alternatives would include a short taxi ride to someplace outside the center of Havana, possibly Playa Baracoa, Cojimar or even simply taking la launcha over to Casablanca or Regla. Or even taking the train from Casablanca to Hershey and back which can be done in an afternoon.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks everyone. This will be my first trip to Cuba. I have travelled the world and have always wanted to go to Cuba. This is a "look and see trip" because I'm sure I'll want to return from all that I have heard.
