Boot repair tip

I have quite a few pairs of hiking boots and sport shoes which are wearing out at the heel on the inside. I presume if I unlaced my boots properly then I wouldn't have this problem but I have found a repair solution. I have recently being doing some house renovations and needed some industrial foam (available in a spray can). This morning I squirted some into the heel area of a pair of trainers which had worn away badly. I then waited until the foam had hardened and then cut out the excess foam. I now have a pair of very comfortable trainers.

May be worth looking at the outside of the sole unit as I suspect that you will be finding a wear pattern on the outside of the heel and the inside of the forefoot.

If so, then it's a common problem known as pronation and can be tackled by the use of either off the shelf solutions such as Orthoheel insoles or custom-made inserts by the likes of Superfeet.

Have the same problem myself with inners wearing out at the heel - using these insoles have helped, as have Ortholite insoles as supplied in some footwear as standard (Berghaus, Salomon etc).
