Out of the loop.I have not been reading much here, and posting even less, since the beginning of September. First I went to Perth to catch up with newly-discovered family members. I will post more on Perth in the Oz branch. Met one TTer while there. I had limited internet access there due to expensive WiFi, and needing to replace my mobile phone SIM after my phone was stolen three days before the trip. It ended up taking a week to get it operating again.
On returning home, I had 3 days to renew the registration and insurance on my elderly Toyota, then off to Solomon Islands. (Short post on South Pacific branch already.) I was due for a knee replacement 9 days after I returned, but it was brought forward 4 days, so I didn't even have the weekend to stock the freezer. (I had to work between returning home and going to hospital.) And when I got home from Solomon Islands I had had a break-in, and my computer was stolen.
I am now staying in as good as a 5-star resort with friends, who are looking after me until I am mobile enough to go home, and don't need my wound covered to shower.

1Okay, let's hope this run of bad luck is now over and done with!! Onwards and upwards. I have enough trouble coping with all the catching up of mail, finances, laundry, etc. that get in the way of relaxing after returning from even a short trip, let alone a long one.
Glad to hear you have friends to stay with while recouping. Get better soon!

6Man its weird. After your home is broken in to, its like an evil spirit is in there.
Ya just wanna stay away for a week, till the boogie man ghost has cleared out.
My folks house got burglarized 4 times. In Houston. The first tim e, the cop said,"You're in somebody's book now. They'll be back."
Sure nuf. They'd wait for a coupla years, for things to be replaced a la insurance. And come in, a different way every time.
Sorry about the theft. Time to upgrade to feel better.

7I haven't been home for early 3 weeks, but a friend is visiting regularly to feed my cats. I am going back tomorrow, after staying 2 weeks with some very kind friends.
I managed to buy a new laptop before the operation, which I am now using. Fortunately, I only had an old-type TV, with a set-top box, so that wasn't taken. Hopefully, they will learn that I don't own much of value to thieves. They went through my drawers looking for jewellery, but I don't own anything of value to them.

8Hope that is the end of the bad luck for you Ozzie. Glad to hear you went ahead with the knee replacement. I've got two of them now (18 mos and 12 mos). It does take patience to heal and lots of exercises (as directed by physio). But it is worth it. I made my best progress doing my exercises in the pool so if you can get into the water, do. Gains in flexibility are easier under water and they are yours to keep out of the water too :)

9Thanks for the advice, Living. Hope my travel becomes as intrepid as yours after the second replacement. I am anticipating dong the second one about 6 months down the track, especially as I now have one straight leg and one still crooked. I have already organised to join an aqua class as soon as I am allowed to and my physio clinic has a pool. Unfortunately, our local pubic pool, which has a great ramp, is usually full of kids having swimming lessons when I am available to use it.
