Restrictions on Pakistan Tourist VisaHello,
I received my Pakistan tourist visa today (Canadian Passport). I am very pleased.
On the back it is written: 'During your vist to Pakistan you are advising not to enter any cantonment/prohibited or restricted areas without permission from the Ministry of Interior Islamabad or the home department of the Province.'
I am planning to travel overland Iran-India and therefore thru Balouchistan (Taftan>Quetta, etc.).
To anyone who has recently traveled this area:
1. Did you have this same message on your visa?
2. Did you experience any challenges moving through this area related to your visa.

1You can't stay over night in Cantonment (Sadar) areas if that restrictions is on your passport but you could visit in the day time.If you stay in theses places police will make you move to other places like old cities.
Its about 13 hrs bus drive (on a bumpy road) from Taftan to Quetta, take Quetta as a transit city & don't try to venture out of the city.Take a train from Quetta either Multan.Lahore or anywhere else.

2As stated above with this stamp on your visa you can't stay over night in Cantonment area (Saddar) but you can visit in the day time. The rest is the travel advice saying that you should not go or enter to any areas which are prohibitted or not allowed for foreigners such as Tribal areas, Swat and other restricted areas etc............ For which you need special prior permission from the ministry of interior or Home department of the province to visit.
Hope it is clear now.

You are not the first person who have such kind of warning note on their visa paper. Things are pretty clear. You can make your trip enjoyable by following these kind of note. Because these areas have nothing interesting for the tourists except bad experience. As you mentioned your trip plan. Please follow general sefety directions about this route, because the route from Taftan border to Quetta city is not safe. I don't want to discourage you by this but this all is for your safety. It would be safe that you travel in day light. Use train from Quetta to Lahore.
Avoid Cantt area. Hope that it helps.

4Bonjour from Islamabad,
All the cantonment areas are not in sadar, that is for sure in Pakistan : ) but cantonment/garrison areas are sensitive areas where the army installations and check points are located and even locals are not allowed to go there without prior permission or NOC.
Cantonment areas don't have any highways or motorways across them normally in Pakistan, to the best of my knowledge so you can travel across Pakistan easily .
Taftan border to Quetta, in a public bus takes some 14 to 16 hrs, road is bad but security check points are there and this year while traveling in Gilgit, Hunza and Chitral, I came across many overlanders who came across Taftan border.
Better to take a train from Quetta direct to Lahore, the best and safest option.
In Quetta stay at
Bon voyage mon ami .

5OP - I've had several visas for Pakistan issued in Australia and they all have that same message stamped alongside or pasted onto them. Unless you need to travel to a restricted area (in which case you'll need to apply for relevant permission once within the country) they are immaterial to your travels.
However, you will face travel restrictions within and around Quetta and on both sides of the Iran/Pakistan border. These areas have particular security issues. There are plenty of posts on these -- use the 'advanced search' option to find them.
