Yellow fever certificate

I read that you might need a yellow fever certificate if you enter Costa Rica from a neighboring country. We wanted to go to CR, then travel into Panama and back into CR to fly out. Does anyone know if you need a yellow fever certificate upon re-entering CR from Panama?

Very unlikely...they certainly didn't ask me for one.

It was wrongly reported, then officially cancelled. That was some time ago, I've not heard of it being re-instated?

there are a couple of countries in south america where you need a yellow fever vaccination if you want to enter costa rica. panama is not one of them. (if you visit a certain area of argentina, for instance)

if you are coming from panama into costa rica, you don't need a yellow fever vaccination.

If you are coming from a South American country with YF. then you yes you are supposed to have the YF certificate. Panama mainly enforces this, never heard of it in CR.

Just a heads up. When I got my yellow fever shot in 2000 before a year in Africa, I had a ball sized knot in my arm for days. Out of the 10 or so shots I had, it was the absolute worst! I was in Panama and CR and was never asked for my certificate.

have to agree - rarely enforced in costa rica. i flew into costa rica a couple of years ago from argentina and no one asked anything.

however - it doesn't mean they won't!

if you think you will be traveling to costa rica from a country where there is a presence of yellow fever, best to do some research. and -- you will need to get a vaccination 10 days ahead of your trip, if you need one.

that being said --- once again -- no need for yellow fever vaccine if coming into costa rica from panama.

Anyone know if a yellow fever certificate is absolutely required by Bolivia when entering overland from Peru?
I won't be in any jungle areas in Peru, so how strict are they at the Bolivian border?

Thanks.

AFAIK it is technically required for Bolivia.

I've crossed into the country a few times and no-one has asked to see it though...but they could.
