You won't need but a few days to advance book your flight to Corn Island. March is a pretty good time to go...usually the winds have died down and the sea is more calm.

Keep in mind the last week in March is Semana Santa or Easter week, and traveling to the islands gets pretty tight. You shouldn't have any problem booking your flight just 2 or 3 days ahead anytime before the 27th.
