US Den of Espionage in early February

In the LP Iran book, it states that the US Den of Espionage (aka US embassy in Tehran) is only open to the public from Feb 1-11. Has anyone in the forum actually been inside the US Den of espionage during these dates? I know people can take photos of the murals outside the building but was curious whether this site is really open during those dates. I was thinking of perhaps visiting in early Feb 2013. Thanks!

Yes, the Den of Espionage.
We arrived at the former embassy and took loads of photos of the wall murals, which are amusing. However, while doing this, a guy went past and advised us to stop taking photos of the walls as it was 'dangerous'. This suitably put us off. This was just before the mass Tehran (violent and bloody) demonstrations of Ashura 2009, so this may have influenced his thinking. We tried to enter the Embassy as we heard that there was an Art exhibition on, but were no sooner in the gate than two Rafah/Revolutionary Guards waved us away; it was clear no foreigners were welcome. There may be a special time of year to visit, but I doubt it.

Thank you! I am planning to visit in early February (Tehran, Esfahan, Kashan). I hope to come back again to visit Shiraz, Yazd, Persepolis, etc.

I'll let you guys know what happens. I have a feeling I'll only see the outside which is fine.
