I am trying to meet my family for a vacation in Hawaii and I will be in South America or Central America and was just wondering what the cheapest way to get to Hawaii would be. Time is not a problem....nor is the country of departure since I will be wandering around down there for a few months anyways.
I am guessing that it may be cheapest to fly back to Los Angeles and then to Hawaii, but I am hoping to avoid that route (since I just came from there and don't necessarily want to backtrack).
Any advice on if there is a country down there that would offer flights to Hawaii.....I would even consider a boat, but really doubt that there is one along those lines.

2There aren't direct flights neither from Central America nor from South America nor from Mexico to Hawaii.
The best way is to fly through the USA. The specific airline(s) will depend on your departure country but usually they'll be United, American Airlines and/or Delta. US Airways could be also an option sometimes but they serve far less destinations Mexico, Central America and South America than the other airlines quoted.
If you get to Thaiti from Easter Island, I belive there're flights from Thaiti to Hawaii.
Yes, there are flights from Papeete to Honolulu (with Hawaiian Airlines) but neither getting from South America to Papeete (with LAN) nor from Papeete to Honolulu will be a cheap.
