Clarification of phrasing johnsang has pointed out that my posting had some ambiguous phrases. I intended to say that after arriving at Stateline, Nevada, and realizing that the routes out of Markleeville are closed due to snow, bicycle along the east side of Lake Tahoe past Squaw Valley to Reno, Nevada, along Interstate-80. However, johnsang also does not recommend Highway #50 for bicycling because it is too narrow (one lane each way in many areas) and dangerous.

The Tioga Pass Road sometimes opens in early May if there is no more snowfall in April (the usual winter season). :o)
