My observation in Mexico City has been that hostels tend to be more expensive than good, budget-priced (by USA/Canadian standards) hotels and they offer less across the board. However, for travlelers uncomfortable with the Spanish language and/or who need/want to be with travelers such as themselves, as compared to traveling independently, they seem to 'fit the bill.'Inexpensive hotels are discussed in the thread, "Mexico City Hotels," which you can find when you use the search feature at the upper right side of this page.

Hi, it depends what are you looking for, if you want Party hostels then there is Cathedral or Regina at the historical center; if you want more quiet good sleep hostels with bars around area you may try Condesa-Chapultepec at Roma Neighborhood and in the south of the city you can try or Cuija Coyoacan. prices for dorm between $150 - $200 pesos single and double privates between $320-600 pesos.
