Health issues for boat trip to LPG
Dear fellow travellersBeing a white spot on my travel map, I would love to visit Laos soon. However, my handicap is an injured backbone as well
as several damaged vertebral discs. So my question is, if its wise in my situation to take the boat from Houay Xai to Luang Prabang or if I rather should be flying in.
I would buy a small pillow in Thailand and bring it with me.
If yes, is it mandatory or recommended to be there well in advance to pick a seat or doesn't that really improve the experience?
Cheers for your advice!

If you've got any sort of back problems, don't even think about the trip on the boat.I took the fast boat from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang, and it was certainly the most uncomfortable way of traveling that I have ever experienced,You are crammed into a tiny space, with virtually no possibility of moving your limbs, for hours on end. Some other people we met had taken the slow boat, which possibly had more room to move about ,but it was apparently still pretty limited-and it took 2 days, once you were on it,there was no escape. The only good thing I can say about my trip was that it was over in only 7 hours! Forget the boat and fly!2
Theres less using the slow boat from Luang Prabang so theres more chance of stretching out. Our boats had bus type seats so were quite comfortable.
