You'll be there rainy season. This doesn't mean so much more rain necessarily, but the trade winds change direction and it blows onshore at Kuta/Legian . This means crap waves and rubbish on the beach.So, head upland to Ubud etc as mentioned above, possibly to Amed if you want the beach (no surf), one of the quieter Gili isles may also suit.
