Minivan from Don Mueang to Ayutthaya or should we take the train?

We will land at Don Mueang airport around 10 am. Would like to continue to Ayutthaya and after reading many posts what option would you recommend:

1/ somehow get to the Victoria monument (how?) and take the minivan from there

2/ take the train from Don Mueang

3/ with Air Asia relocating back to DM, are there any minivans starting from DM heading for Ayutthaya?

thank you.

If you're land at Don Mueang then you can take train from there about 45-50 mins to Ayutthaya.

Ok so it looks like the train. Is it difficult to just go to the station ask when is the first train to Ayutthaya and get the ticket at that time, ie no prebooking?

^^ Mai Dai Arn is more likely than Arn Mai Dai. It's more about the propensity for than the ability to.

@6. Ticket office on the platform. There's somebody speaks English. Just ask when next train, and throw money.

You could check train times yourself as well.

You get ALL the trains if you put in the two stations - Don Muang is near the top of the drop-menu, Ayutthaya almost at the very end! Thai order.

If you can't get a seat, 3rd class is always open, if you can stand long enough ( or sit on the floor ) in the event that there are no seats to sit on.

the station is literally across the road very easy and if there is no train due you can also get the bus that stops about 100 metres from the station

facing the airport on the station left. walk alongside the rail tracks /road keeping the tracks on your left and the airport on your right and you will see a layby where the bus's /mini vans pull in to pick up there is somewhere to sit and the bus is about every 20 minutes or so. Might need to ask other people at the stop which is the right bus.

thank you again for the helpful replies.

just to verify one info: someone told me to go to the official taxi stand and ask for a ride to Ayutthaya by meter, which should be no more then 350tb to 400 tb. I did lots of reading on this subject and am a bit suspicious if this information is correct.
would you be able to confirm that it is incorrect information?

No way that you would get a taxi to Ayutthaya for 400 Baht do not know what it would cost but a lot more than that.

mini van to DonMuang and train about 60 baht in 3rd and perhaps 100 on the bus in total

FYI, I am not a local but have been to Thailand and SE asia many times. I usually head to Lop Buri when I land or before I depart and the old airport at Don Muang was really easy and convieinient now I have to add on the time for the mini van connection from the new airport
