First hit on google

http://kumbhmela.co.in/mahakumbhmela2013.html

If you want hotel information, try wego. http://www.wego.co.in/hotels/india

security? it is all in the mind, in india. If something seems too good to be true, then it is. Don't accept drinks/food from strangers, be they single or with family.
Always pay for what you buy, don't let others buy food for you.

Happy dipping...

70 million people so accomodation is ether full or extremely expensive, and Allahbad is 8 kms from the Sangam with walking the only means of transport. Security is no real issue as the place is full of cops and pilgrims more known for stampedes. Do an advanced search for more info.

Hi! I just I booked a few days ago one double sharing tent for 11$ per person per night and 3 vegetarian meals (whit a donation of half price of accomodation ). People of Sacchinadapram association seems to be kindly and they replied me in very few time....maybe you can try with them: www.kumbha-mela.in.The camp seems to be in center of Mela Ground 1,5 km far from Sangam...not so bad.
I and my husband will be in Allahabad from 4 february till 12.
I know very well India, I been there many times and for 5 months in 2010 but I never been at kumbha mela .... I don't thik that will be so dangerous...only we should pay attention to the crowd on bathingh dates ...

Kumbha Mela is the largest religious gathering in the world. So i will suggest you that you would choose best option for living in Allahabad during kumbh you can also live in Tent house or if you want luxury then you should choose Hotel and near Allahabad many hotels are available that you can choose with your own mind and second question is about security so don't worry there is no problem, you can also choose to book your tour with accommodation, so you will book your tour with indian tour operators they can provide good and comfortable journey through all the way .

Everyone has created a lot of hype of people being drugged and raped during Kumbh Mela. This is not the fact. Kumbh Mela is one of the largest hindu gathering and is as safe as any other fairs (mela) in India.

Cheers

I want to go to Mahakumbh 2013 in Allahabad. I am in New York and please let me know if you are looking for a travel buddy. I would prefer going with a company rather than going alone. Let me know. Thanks.
